Jessica began her forest products career at Guardian Building Products after graduating from Clemson University with a B.S. in Forest Resource Management. She has been with The Buying Source since October of 2008.

Jessica began her forest products career at Guardian Building Products after graduating from Clemson University with a B.S. in Forest Resource Management. She has been with The Buying Source since October of 2008.
Jessica’s responsibilities primarily include account management and she serves as our editor-in-chief of the TBS Clear Cut publication.
Outside of work, Jessica enjoys spending time with her family, Clemson football games, traveling and working out.
Brent holds a B.S. degree in Forestry from Purdue University. Brent is one of our founding associates and a TBS structural panel guru. He started his career in 1996 with Georgia Pacific and began at the Buying Source when our doors opened in 2003.
Currently, Brent handles account management, all plywood purchasing, and

Currently, Brent handles account management, all plywood purchasing, and some of the SYP Dimensional buying. Brent has strong relationships with many trucking companies and helps keep our trucks moving West of the Mississippi.
Brent enjoys hunting, fishing, and all sports related activities.
Dan is another founding TBS associate and currently handles sales primarily in the SE & SW regions as well as purchasing the treated lumber.
Dan may have inadvertently begun his career during his high school and college summers when he worked at a lumberyard in his hometown of New Albany, Indiana. After graduating from

Dan may have inadvertently begun his career during his high school and college summers when he worked at a lumberyard in his hometown of New Albany, Indiana. After graduating from IU, he relocated to Texas where he worked for 84 Lumber in Austin and Arlington, and then to Dallas, TX for Dallas Wholesale Builders Supply. He moved to Chicago with Ace Hardware Corp and then to Peachtree City, GA when they opened a regional LBM office. After being acquired by Guardian Building Products in Greenville, SC he left there to join The Buying Source in 2003 and has been with them ever since.
Outside of work, he enjoys boating, bad golf, attending live music events and his recent relegation from tennis to pickleball.
Bryan Garrison primarily handles account management for TBS. He also keeps truckers rolling and manages freight cost East of the Mississippi. In addition, he handles some Euro import purchasing, any export sales, and serves as the Webmaster for this site.

Bryan graduated from The Citadel military college in 1989 with a B.S. degree in business administration and began his 33-year career in forest products with Builder Marts on America (BMA) in 1990. He has served in all disciplines within the forest products industry as a part of the evolution of BMA into the consolidating lumber and panel aspects of ACE Hardware, True Value, ServiStar, and Guardian Building Products. Bryan excels in customer service, recruiting new accounts, and has been heavily involved over the years in OSB, SYP Plywood, Engineered Wood products, and Export.
Bryan enjoys saltwater fishing, road cycling, and playing his vintage spruce top Garrison guitar.
David Jackson is our president and the founder of The Buying Source.
After graduating Clemson University in 1979, David began his 43 year career in the building materials industry with Builder Marts of America in the millwork division.
As a result of his wide ranging relationships with BMA lumber dealers across the U.S.

After graduating Clemson University in 1979, David began his 43 year career in the building materials industry with Builder Marts of America in the millwork division.
As a result of his wide ranging relationships with BMA lumber dealers across the U.S. he was asked to move over to the Forest Products division to handle key accounts in 1994.
David has listened to, and learned from, many "greats" in our industry over the years. From this, David charted the vision of the Buying Source and continues to execute the plan he set out with in conjunction with the experienced traders he has invested in along the way.
David handles major accounts and oversees best business practices for the company while delegating most all of the day to day decisions to the TBS staff.
When not in the office, you can find David with his family, at the lake, or on the golf course.
Jim started in the forest products industry shortly after attending Clarion University of PA and graduating with a finance and real estate degree.
In 1987 he worked for 84 Lumber managing several locations in Pennsylvania and Ohio, before taking a lumber trading position at ServiStar Hardware in Butler, PA. While ServiSt

In 1987 he worked for 84 Lumber managing several locations in Pennsylvania and Ohio, before taking a lumber trading position at ServiStar Hardware in Butler, PA. While ServiStar transitioned first to Cotter/ True Value then to BMA and again to Guardian Building Products, Jim held several positions from sales, purchasing and eventually manager of purchasing in Butler. In 2006, Jim relocated his family to Greenville, SC to assume the role of director of forest product sales at Guardian Building Products. Jim has now been with The Buying Source since 2008 and plays an integral role in OSB purchasing and account management.
His hobbies include Crossfit, golf and fishing.
John started his forest products career shortly after graduating from college back in 1986. Like many at the time, John started working at Georgia Pacific distribution in Evansville, IN, where he was smiling and dialing selling units to fill daily route trucks going to area lumber yards. Yes calling, since the internet

Yes calling, since the internet wasn’t around back then.
After a couple of years John then jumped over to the buying group side of the business and worked at Central Builders Supplies in Michigan where he was eventually in charge of their forest products department. After 5 years John moved to SC where he joined BMA and 10 years later left with a few others to start The Buying Source in 2003 where he has been at ever since.
Currently John buys SPF/Euro and has account responsibility primarily in the Midwest.
Outside of work John is pretty much a lazy bum who enjoys reading, gaming and time with the family.
Kurt has over two decades of experience in the building materials industry with a solid reputation as a knowledgeable and trusted professional.

Kurt’s experience ranges over a number of different levels in the building products industry. This includes 6 years with GBS Lumber (independent lumber yard), 11 years with Huttig Building Products (two step distributor) and since March of 2020 Kurt is currently serving as a key member of TBS.
He holds the esteemed responsibility of managing the purchasing of SPF/Euro Lumber and driving sales for a diverse network of lumber yards for all our product categories.
David handles account management for TBS and is the primary buyer for Southern Yellow Pine lumber.

Two years later, David joined Specialty Timber and began wholesaling pine lumber and specialty deck products. In 2009, he joined The Buying Source. David excels in customer service and forecasting price direction moves within the SYP market.
David enjoys playing golf and attending Georgia Bulldog football and basketball games.
Shannon is a key account manager for TBS, or as he calls it, ‘slinging sticks and squares.’
Shannon assists in buying European Spruce truckloads, however, mainly handles a diverse group of TBS customers primarily located in the southern states.

We are thankful for his uncanny ability to translate technical market analysis, from our internal buyers’, into essential information for our dealer base to help them solve issues in their purchasing decisions.
Shannon transitioned from the telecommunications industry in 1999 to a top 10 trader with Guardian Building Products before coming over to The Buying Source in 2004.
Shannon enjoys motorcycles, spending time with his wife and 4 Jack Russell’s and dabbling in eclectic craft beers.
