Service for the Lumber Industry
The Buying Source was founded in 2003 for the value-added service of assisting the independent lumber dealer in the procurement and management of forest product inventories.
The principle of “trust” is the cornerstone of which this company was established upon.
We are a no fee Buying Group based out of Greenville, SC.
We buy direct trucks and rail cars of forest products delivered to retail yards and roofing distributors from manufacturing plants for the lowest cost for our members.
Unique Buy Group
We approach the industry more efficiently than a traditional Co-Op and speculating wholesaler.
Traditional Co-ops have layered fees, hidden costs, and bad debt liability on top of their quoted price.
Speculating wholesalers, whose mantra of “buy low and sell high”, always seem to have ONLY their best interests at heart.
Our unique platform, partners with our dealer base to make strategic buying decisions that make sense for YOU and NOT line our pockets with profits by pushing a buy that isn’t in your best interest.
Unlike other “buy groups” we do not have fees to join, invoice adders, or monthly maintenance fees assessed. We operate on an identified margin for our members and what we quote you, is what you pay.

- Help identify and solve issues that the independent retailer might have when sourcing forest products.
- Meet product needs for the lowest price within the optimum shipment window. Through our customer partnerships, we are able to contract for a guaranteed supply with all manufacturers AND leverage these purchase volumes for your benefit.
Our 11 traders have an average of 30+ years of experience each in trading forest products.
